Project Overview
The objective was to transform the dining environment by improving lighting levels throughout the restaurant while enhancing the colourful, immersive experience expected by guests visiting one of the UK’s most popular family attractions.
Working closely with the LEGOLAND Facilities Team, specialist lighting suppliers, and project stakeholders, mel Group developed and delivered a bespoke lighting solution that successfully revitalised the space and exceeded client expectations.
The Challenge
Over time, feedback from guests indicated that The Bricks Restaurant felt too dark in certain areas, impacting the overall dining experience.
The challenge was not simply to increase brightness. The new lighting needed to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere while complementing the fun, colourful identity of the LEGOLAND brand.
The solution also needed to integrate seamlessly with the restaurant’s existing lighting control infrastructure and be delivered within a strict programme during the hotel’s planned maintenance shutdown.
OUR SOLUTION
Lighting Survey & Design Development
The project began with a comprehensive lux level survey to assess existing lighting conditions throughout the restaurant.
Using this data, mel Group worked closely with lighting manufacturer Kosnic Lighting and key supply partners to develop a tailored lighting design that balanced functionality, ambience, and visual impact.
Compatibility & Testing
Careful consideration was given to ensuring the proposed lighting scheme would operate effectively with the existing Evolution lighting control system, manufactured by Mode Lighting.
To validate the design before full installation, mel Group carried out a mock-up installation, allowing the client to review the proposed solution and ensuring the final design fully met expectations.
Planned Installation Programme
The works were scheduled during the hotel’s planned January maintenance closure, providing a limited window for project delivery.
Detailed planning and coordination were essential to ensure all works were completed safely, efficiently, and within programme deadlines.
Approved Electricians Lewis and Callum worked closely with mel Group’s Contracts and Project Management teams to successfully deliver the installation on time.
